EVENTS TO BE SKATED




Basic Moves / Basic Free Skate

Linus Compulsory 1 - Events will be on 1/2 ice. Skaters may not have passed any Moves In The Field or Freestyle Tests. A compulsory program, 1 minute without music.

Group 1 - A: Skaters who have not reached the age of 6 as of July 15, 1998.
Group 1 - B: Skaters who are 6 years or older, but have not reached the age of 9 as of July 15, 1998.
Group 1- C: Open, No age restriction (9 years or older). The compulsory program shall consist of the following five elements. No additional elements are permitted. The judges will deduct 0.2 points for each omission or illegal move performed.

  1. Forward Crossovers - Clockwise and Counter- clockwise (minimum 5 each).
  2. Backward Crossovers - Clockwise and Counter-clockwise (minimum 5 each).
  3. Forward Inside Mohawk followed by extended backward outside edge.
  4. T- Stop (Either Foot).
  5. Two Foot Spin - entry optional.

Snoopy Compulsory 3 - Events will be on � ice. Skaters may not have passed any Moves In The Field or Freestyle Tests. A compulsory program, 1 minute without music.

Group 3 - A: Skaters who have not reached the age of 6 as of July 15, 1998.
Group 3 - B: Skaters who are 6 years or older, but have not reached the age of 9 as of July 15, 1998.
Group 3 - C: Open - no age restriction (9 years or older). The compulsory program shall consist of the following 7 elements. No additional elements are permitted. The judges will deduct 0.2 points for each omission or illegal move performed.

  1. Waltz Jump
  2. Salchow
  3. Toe Loop
  4. 1/2 Flip or 1/2 lutz
  5. Scratch Spin
  6. Forward Spiral or Shoot the Duck
  7. 1 Sequence of Foot Work

Moves In The Field

Moves In The Field Pre- Preliminary, Preliminary, Pre Juvenile, Juvenile, Intermediate, Novice, Junior and Senior are to be skated in accord with TR41.00 and the current USFSA Rule book patterns, except that feet and or directions will be drawn as indicated, announced and posted by the Competition Chief Referee prior to the start of practice ice. Events may be double paneled as determined by the Competition Chief Referee. Starting orders will be rotated, one mark will be given for each move and accounting computations will be performed as for figures. Passing the equivalent Freeskating Test may be substituted for a Moves in the Field Test in order to qualify.

PRE-PRELIMINARY MOVES IN THE FIELD: Open to skaters who have not passed the Preliminary Moves In The Field Test.
  1. Forward Perimeter Stroking (clockwise or counter clockwise to be drawn) PPM1
  2. Waltz Eight (Two Patterns Per Foot) PPM 3

PRELIMINARY MOVES IN THE FIELD: Open to skaters who have passed the Pre- Preliminary Moves In The Field Test but not the Pre Juvenile Moves In The Field Test.
  1. Forward or Backward Crossovers (to be drawn) PM1.
  2. Forward Power Three Turns (choice of foot) PM3.

PRE-JUVENILE MOVES IN THE FIELD: Open to skaters who have passed the Preliminary Moves In The Field Test, but not the Juvenile Moves In The Field Test.
  1. Backward Perimeter Power Crossover Stroking (one arena length only) PJM2
  2. Forward or Backward Power Change Of Edge Pulls ( to be drawn ) PJM5.
  3. Five Step Mohawk Sequence (one arena length only) PJM6.

JUVENILE MOVES IN THE FIELD: Open to skaters who have passed the Pre Juvenile Moves In The Field Test, but not the Intermediate Moves In The Field Test.
  1. Eight Step Mohawk Sequence (clockwise or counter clockwise to be drawn) JM1
  2. Forward or Backward Freeskating Cross Strokes (to be drawn) JM2
  3. Forward Double 3-Turns ( inside or outside to be drawn -one arena length only )JM4

INTERMEDIATE MOVES IN THE FIELD: Open to skaters who have passed the Juvenile Moves In The Field Test, but not the Novice Moves in the Field Test.
  1. Backward Perimeter Power Crossover Stroking with Backward Power 3-Turns (Clockwise or counter clockwise to be drawn) IM3
  2. Bracket - Three- Bracket Pattern (one arena length only) IM5.
  3. Inside Slide Chasse Pattern IM6

NOVICE MOVES IN THE FIELD: Open to skaters who have passed the Intermediate Moves In The Field Test, but not the Junior Moves In The Field Test.
  1. Backward Perimeter Power Stroking with Back Inside 3-Turns and Forward Inside
  2. 3-Turns (clockwise or counter clockwise to be drawn) NM1
  3. Forward and Backward Outside Counters (right or left to be drawn) NM3A.
  4. Backward Rocker Choctaw Sequence (one arena length only) NM4.

JUNIOR MOVES IN THE FIELD: Open to skaters who have passed the Novice Moves In The Field Test, but not the Senior Moves In The Field Test.

  2. Power Pulls (one diagonal length only) JRM 4

SENIOR MOVES IN THE FIELD: Open to skaters who have passed the Junior Moves In The Field Test.
  1. Sustained Edge Step (2 - Patterns one arena length only) SRM1
  2. A or B and foot to be drawn (one diagonal length only).
    A. Backward Outside Power Double 3 Turns to Power Double Inside Rockers SRM3a Or
    B. Backward Inside Power Double 3 Turns to Power Double Outside Rockers SRM3b
  3. Quick Edge Step (Choice of direction, full pattern) SRM4.


Singles Short Program

INTERMEDIATE SHORT PROGRAM - Open to skaters who have passed their Juvenile, but not their Novice Free Skating Test. In accordance with SSR 3.08 or 3.09.

NOVICE SHORT PROGRAM - Open to skaters who have passed their Intermediate, but not their Junior Free Skating Test. In accordance with SSR 3.06 or SSR 3.07. The double jump shall be the double loop. The combination spin shall have only 1 change of foot, and at least 1 change of position (5 revs each foot).

JUNIOR SHORT PROGRAM - Open to skaters who have passed their Novice, but not their Senior Free Skating Test. In accordance with SSR 3.05 Ladies Group C, SSR 3.04 Men Group C.

SENIOR SHORT PROGRAM - Open to skaters who have passed their Junior Freeskating Test in accordance with SSR 3.02 or SSR 3.03.

Singles Free Skating

PRE- PRELIMINARY FREESKATING - Open to skaters who have not passed their Preliminary Free Skating Test. A one minute program set to music. No axles or double jumps. Judges will deduct 0.2 point penalty for each illegal element performed.

PRELIMINARY FREE SKATING - Open to skaters who have passed the Pre Preliminary Free Skating Test ,but not their Pre Juvenile Free Skating Test. A one and one half minute program set to music.

PRE-JUVENILE FREE SKATING - Open to skaters who have passed their Preliminary Free Skating Test, but not their Juvenile Free Skating Test. A two minute program set to music.

JUVENILE - Open to skaters under the age of 13, as of July 15, 1998, who have passed their Pre-Juvenile Free Skating Test, but not their Intermediate Free Skating Test. A two minute program set to music.

OPEN JUVENILE - Open to skaters 13 years of age or over, as of July 15, 1998, who have passed their Pre- Juvenile Free Skating Test, but not the Intermediate Free Skating Test. A two minute program set to music.

INTERMEDIATE FREE SKATING - Open to skaters who have passed their Juvenile Free Skating Test, but not their Novice Free Skating Test. A two and one half minute program set to music.

NOVICE FREE SKATING - Open to skaters who have passed their Intermediate Free Skating Test, but not their Junior Free Skating Test. A three minute program set to music.

JUNIOR FREE SKATING - Open to skaters who have passed their Novice Free Skating Test, but not their Senior Free Skating Test. Ladies- A three and one half minute program set to music. Men- A Four minute program set to music.

SENIOR FREE SKATING - Open to skaters who have passed their Junior Free Skating Test. Ladies- A four minute program set to music. Men - A four and one half minute program set to music.

ADULT PRE-BRONZE FREE SKATING - Open to adults (25 years or older) who have passed no higher than the Adult Pre-Bronze Freeskating Test. A 1 minute 40 second program maximum, set to music. No axels permitted.

ADULT BRONZE FREE SKATING - Open to adults (25 years or older) who have passed the Adult Pre-Bronze Free Skating Test, but not the Adult Silver Free Skating Test, and no higher than the Preliminary Free Skating Test. A 1 minute 40 second program set to music. No axels permitted.

ADULT SILVER FREE SKATING - Open to adults (25 years or older) who have passed the Adult Bronze Free Skating Test, but not the Adult Gold Test, and no higher than the Juvenile Free Skating Test. A 2 minute 10 second program maximum set to music.

ADULT GOLD FREE SKATING - Open to adults (25 years or older) who have passed the Adult Silver Free Skating Test, and no higher than the Intermediate Free Skating Test. A 2 minute 40 second program maximum, set to music.

Singles Artistic
This Artistic Freestyle Event is to be artistic, interpretive and creative. There is no restriction on music. All kinds of music are allowed. Use your imagination. Costumes may also be creative. The only props allowed will be safe props if they are hand held during the entire routine (a hat, a cane). No Feathers or boas permitted on costume or props. No helium or mylar balloons allowed. Any prop deemed unsafe will be eliminated. Judges will consider performance as well as skating ability in judging this event. Artistic does not have to mean dramatic. It is perfectly all right to have a light program in this event. Be entertaining, have fun, be creative and smile! A skater may enter this event in only one category. A skater may enter the event that he/she is qualified for or one event higher.

PRE PRELIMINARY ARTISTIC - Open to skaters who have not passed their Preliminary Free Skating Test. A one and one half minute program. Restricted event, no axels or multi-revolution jumps. Judges will deduct a 0.2 for each illegal element performed.

PRELIMINARY ARTISTIC - Open to skaters who have passed their Pre-Preliminary Free Skating Test, but not their Pre-Juvenile Freeskating Test. A 1 minute 30 second program. Restricted event, no axels or multi -revolution jumps. Judges will deduct a 0.2 for each illegal element performed.

PRE-JUVENILE ARTISTIC - Open to skaters who have passed their Preliminary Free Skating Test, but not their Juvenile Free Skating test. A two minute program. Restricted event , no axels or multi-revolution jumps. Judges will deduct a 0.2 for each illegal element performed.

JUVENILE ARTISTIC - Open to skaters under the age of 13, as of July 15, 1998, who have passed their Pre- Juvenile Free Skating Test, but not their Intermediate Free Skating Test. JUNIOR ARTISTIC - Open to skaters who have passed their Novice, but not their Senior Free skating Test. A two and one half minute program. Restricted event, no double axels or triple jumps. Judges will deduct a 0.2 for each illegal element performed.

SENIOR ARTISTIC - Open to skaters who have passed their Junior Freeskating Test. A two and one half minute program. Restricted event, no double axels or triple jumps. Judges will deduct a 0.2 for each illegal element performed.

ADULTARTISTIC - Open to skaters 25 years of age and older. Skaters will be separated by age. A 2 minute program. Restricted event, no double axels or triple jumps.

JUMPS ONLY EVENT: Entrants will qualify according to their freestyle level. Pre-Preliminary through Pre-Juvenile will be skated on 1/2 ice. All other levels will skate on full ice. Jumps should be performed exactly as stated. Skaters will be given two opportunities to perform each jump, and will be judged on the best one. An axel will be considered a single jump. In situations where the skater is given the choice of the jumps to be performed, the first attempt will determine the jumps to be judged, and the skater will not be allowed to change jumps on the second attempt.

SPINS ONLY EVENT: Entrants will qualify according to their freestyle level. Spins may be joined with appropriate connecting moves and will be skated on 1/3 ice. There will be a 1.5 minute time limit, and no music. Spins must be skated exactly as stated, but may be performed in any order.
