Membership information for the 1996-1997 membership year.
We keep track of things at the club based on calendar years, fiscal years and membership years. While a year is always a 12 month period, no two of these years start on the same day.
We all know about the Calendar year, however, there are two other 12 month periods that affect the club and it's members financially.
Our Fiscal Year goes from July 1 to June 30. This is the 12 month period that governs our budget and the term of office for our board members. Our tax returns are also filed for this period of time.
Then there is the United States Figure Skating Association's membership year. This period goes from October 1, to September 30 of the following calendar year.
USFSA membership is not pro-rated. In other words, if you join the USFSA half way through the skating year, you must still pay full price. It also complicates things, because the school year starts sometime between late August and early September, depending on the school. Since many of our school-age members take skating as an alternate physical education program, our club skating programs must begin approximately the same time. So here's the basic policy of this club governing membership dues, with allowance for new members wishing to take part in club sessions during September.
Santa Rosa Figure Skating Club tries to keep dues as low as possible. We do this by collecting only funds needed to cover required overhead like USFSA dues, "Skating" magazine subscriptions, the club newsletter, insurance, and other membership related administrative expenses in the dues. We cover our club programs such as club ice, lessons, club shows, competitions, etc. through a combination of fund raisers and participant fees.
All members should have received their membership packets by now, If you haven't, please contact Beverly Salaz
Fees for 96-97 are as follows...
First skating member or professional, $60.00
Additional skating or non skating member, $35.00
Associate member, $35.00
In addition, the board has passed a resolution requiring 25 hours volunteer time, or a $100 additional per family using club certain qualifying club services. If you do not use any of the these services, this requirement is waived.
Fees for additional skating & non-skating members are the same (non-skaters paid a little less in years past). We invariably have had situations where a parent would step out on the ice, or need to be backstage where the wet surface of the floor, from skaters going on and off the ice, made life a little more hazardous for those in shoes. As a result, last year we decided it would be best to insure all members. If a non-skater decides to start skating, they do not have to upgrade their membership as they did in the past.
Dear Member:
Enclosed is your preprinted membership registration, club information card, volunteer request form, and for some, a statement regarding money owed in lieu of volunteer hours.
