Rules and General Information
a. Each contestant must be an eligible member in good standing of the United States Figure Skating Association.
b. Skating will be judged primarily on entertainment value (artistic and theatrical qualities).
c. Costumes should fit the performance and be appropriate and in good taste for the age of the Skater. See Rule d.3 & d.4 below.
d. Props are optional. If used they must be placed and removed in one (1) minute. All props must be safe, PLEASE BE SURE TO READ 1 - 8 BELOW. DISREGARD OF THESE RULES MAY RESULT IN DISQUALIFICATION AS DETERMINED BY REFEREE. ALL PROPS WILL BE EXAMINED FOR SAFETY BY THE BACKSTAGE SECURITY. IF IT IS THE OPINION OF THE SRFSC CRYSTALLINE CLASSIC COMPETITION COMMITTEE THAT ANY PROP IS UNSAFE AND POTENTIALLY HAZARDOUS OR DAMAGING TO SKATERS AND/OR ARENA PROPERTY IT WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO BE USED.
PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING RULES THAT WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED:
1. Live "people" props may walk on skates onto the ice but must remain at their fixed location during the performance.
2. NO LIVE ANIMALS.
3. THE USE OF BOAS OR FEATHERS ON COSTUMES, OR AS A PROP, WILL NOT BE PERMITTED (MINIMUM use on headpieces okay).
4. ANY AND ALL COSTUME ORNAMENTATION MUST BE PROPERLY AND SECURELY ATTACHED SO AS NOT TO DISLODGE WHILE
SKATING UNDER NORMAL COMPETITION CONDITIONS. NO SKATER MAY TAKE THE ICE IF ANY DECORATION ON THEIR COSTUME
IS NOT SECURE. ITEMS FALLING FROM COSTUMES DURING SKATING ARE SUBJECT TO A DEDUCTION OR DISQUALIFICATION.
5. The use of fog/dry ice as a stage tool is forbidden. This became necessary due to the improper water containers that the dry ice was dropped into leaving large holes/indents in the ice, making it a safety hazard for the Skaters.
6. Absolutely no glass, china, ceramic, or mirrors whatsoever allowed on or about the ice ... i.e., no glass in picture frames, mirrors or mirrored trays, no cups or glasses, light bulbs, candle holders, perfume/polish bottles, etc.
7. The use of power cords stretched across the ice or the arena floor and railing is forbidden.
8. No lighting of candles or the like permitted.
9. No motorcycles or power driven items on or around the ice.
10. Any prop that may cause damage to the ice, i.e., items with rough bottoms and/or sharp edges, that could cause grooves in the ice, may not be used.
11. HELIUM (MYLAR OR LATEX) BALLOONS ARE NOT ALLOWED ON ICE OR INSIDE ICE ARENA (CAN CAUSE PROBLEMS WITH CEILING LIGHTS, MUSIC/VIDEO/LASER SYSTEM, ETC.).
e. The locker room of the Santa Rosa Figure Skating Club is strictly for the SRFSC members. Dressing rooms are provided at the back of the arena for all other competitors. Due to numerous problems with items being misplaced or damaged, all friends and non-competing children/teens are asked to stay out of the SRFSC locker room and the back dressing rooms. ABSOLUTELY NO DRINKS (water okay) OR FOOD IS PERMITTED IN ANY LOCKER/DRESSING ROOM.
f. Due to the small area containing numerous props, the narrow walkway to get backstage and dressing rooms, ONLY BACKSTAGE CREW AND THOSE THEN COMPETING SKATERS ARE ALLOWED BACKSTAGE. FAMILY AND FRIENDS MUST WAIT BY THE PHOTOGRAPHER'S AREA FOR THE SKATER TO COME FROM BACKSTAGE.
WITH REGARDS TO "d", "e", and "f" ABOVE WE MUST ASK FOR EVERYONE'S COOPERATION AND CONSIDERATION. WE CANNOT STRESS ENOUGH HOW IMPORTANT THESE RULES ARE...COMMON SENSE, COURTESY AND RESPECT FOR OTHERS AND THEIR BELONGINGS IS A NECESSITY...IF PROBLEMS ARISE, PLEASE ADVISE THE FRONT DESK/REGISTRATION AND THE SITUATION WILL BE CHECKED INTO PROMPTLY.

The Judges for the Crystalline Classic will come from artistic and theatrical backgrounds, including skating and dance. They will be looking for programs of high audience appeal with strong skating ability when appropriate. Half of the Judges marks will be based on showmanship and audience appeal. The other half of the marks will include technical execution, costumes and props. Ties between Skaters will be broken, if possible. The highest showmanship will prevail. Tied Skaters will receive equal awards, and the next Skater shall receive the next place. No place will be omitted.
At several times during the day, Judges by group discussion may select Skaters to compete for the Crystalline Classic Award. Skaters may be recalled for any or all events they have entered. However, they may compete for the Crystalline Classic Award in one singles event and/or one pair event. If a Skater is recalled for more than one single event or one pair event, the Skater must choose one of their single events or one of their pair events to enter. IN NO CASE MAY A SKATER SKATE MORE THAN TWICE IN THE RECALL. If a Skater skates twice in the Recall, he/she shall receive only one award and that will be his/her highest award.
Skaters recalled more than once in an event (singles/pairs) shall notify the Competition Committee of their program by turning in their music at the appropriate time. Once music has been turned in the decision cannot be changed.
In order to be recalled a Skater must place FIRST in their event. If first place is recalled, the second place becomes available to be recalled. If first and second place are recalled, then third place is allowed to be recalled. AT NO TIME WILL ANYONE BE RECALLED WHO HAS NOT PLACED FIRST, SECOND OR THIRD!
INTERPRETIVE EVENTS ARE NOT OPEN FOR RECALL.
A GROUP MAY BE RECALLED ONLY AS RECOGNITION OF THEIR ACHIEVEMENT, BUT WILL NOT BE ELIGIBLE FOR THE CRYSTALLINE CLASSIC AWARD.
Awards for ALL SKATERS in all events, and pictures, will be made after each event. Non-placing competitors may have their pictures taken if they desire. See the photographer. REMEMBER, EVERYONE RECEIVES A MEDAL.
The Crystalline Classic Award will be presented to the Skater deemed "Best of the Competition". The Judges will choose among those Skaters specifically invited to reskate their programs for this event. Announcements will be posted periodically throughout the day as to which Skaters have been chosen to reskate. PLEASE NOTE: THE WINNERS OF PREVIOUS CRYSTALLINE CLASSIC AWARDS (BEST OF COMPETITION) MAY NOT COMPETE AGAIN FOR THE RECALL AWARD IN THE SAME TYPE OF EVENT FOR WHICH THEY WON THE COMPETITION IN., I.E., SINGLES MAY COMPETE IN PAIRS AND PAIRS MAY COMPETE IN SINGLES.
