RULES AND GENERAL INFORMATION


ELIGIBILITY:
Eligibility to compete in the Santa Rosa's Winter Classic Synchronized Team Skating Competition is open to USFSA and ISI registered Synchronized Teams.


ENTRY DEADLINE/FEES/FORM:
Deadline to enter is December 8, 2025. Entries postmarked after this date will be considered a late entry.

ENTRY FEE is $75.00 per team plus $10.00 per team member (Including Alternates). Exceptions: For events with a Short and Long Program (Junior and Senior) the entry fee is $100.00 per team plus $10.00 per team member (Including Alternates). The entry fee for Gummie Bears, Peppermint Twists, and Synchronized Fours is $15.00 only per team member (Including Alternates).
One Team entered in a division will constitute an event.

LATE ENTRIES may be accepted at the discretion of the Chief Referee.

Entries or Cancellations by telephone WILL NOT be accepted. Requests must be in writing.

A $30.00 fee will be charged for all returned checks not honored by the bank.

All entries MUST BE completely filled out. Entries not completely filled out will be returned for completion. The competition entry form MUST BE resubmitted by the Postmarked Deadline Date of 12-8-99.


INTERPRETATION OF THE RULES:
The Chief Referee's interpretation of the rules, questions and decisions on all matters not covered by these rules, shall be final.

TEAM DIVISIONS:
Divisions will be described in the following paragraphs. (Please note that some USFSA team maximum sizes and/or skating times are increased to satisfy ISI team guidelines - these exceptions are underlined). Age restrictions listed below will apply to a majority of the team. One-team events may be combined with another event if the ages and size of the team would fit within the rules of the other event.

Senior: A team of 16 to 32 skaters. The Event shall consist of a Short Program and a Free Skating Program. Skaters must have reached the age of 14 on the preceding July 1. Short Program duration: No more than 2 minutes, 40 seconds; may be less if all elements are included. Program duration: 4-1/2 minutes.

Junior: A team of 12 to 20 skaters. The Event shall consist of a Short Program and a Free Skating Program. Skaters must have reached the age of 12 and must not have reached the age of 19 on the preceding July 1. Short Program duration: No more than 2 minutes, 40 seconds; may be less if all elements are included. Program duration: 4 minutes.

Junior Classic: A team of 12 to 20 skaters. 75% of the skaters must be 18 years or younger on the preceding July 1. The remaining 25% may be 19 years or older. Skaters may not crossover to the Junior or Senior divisions. Program duration: 3 to 4-1/2 minutes.

Novice: A team of 12 to 32 skaters. Skaters must be 14 years or younger on the preceding July 1. Program duration: 3 to 4-1/2 minutes.

Intermediate: A team of 12 to 20 skaters. Skaters must be 15 years or younger on the preceding July 1. Skaters may not cross over to the Novice, Junior, or Senior divisions. Program duration: 3 to 4-1/2 minutes.

Juvenile: A team of 12 to 32 skaters. Skaters must be 11 years or younger on the preceding July 1. Members of a Juvenile Team may not skate on a Preliminary Team or vice versa. Program duration: 3 to 4-1/2 minutes.

Preliminary: A team of 8 to 16 skaters. At least 75% of the team must be 9 years or younger on the preceding July 1.Up to 25% of the team may be 11 years or younger on the preceding July 1st. Program to include only one forward intersection. Members of a Preliminary Team may not skate on a Juvenile Team or vice versa. Program duration: 2 to 3-1/2 minutes.

Adult: A team of 12 to 32 skaters. Skaters must be 21 years of age or older on the preceding July 1, and 75% of the skaters must be 25 years of age or older on the preceding July 1. Program duration: 3 to 4-1/2 minutes.

Masters: A team of 8 to 20 skaters. Skaters must be 25 years of age or older on the preceding July 1, and 75% of the skaters must be 35 years of age or older on the preceding July 1. Program duration: 3 to 4-1/2 minutes.

Collegiate: A team of 12 to 24 skaters. Skaters must be enrolled in a college or university as a full-time student. Program duration: 4-1/2 minutes.

Gummie Bears: A team with a maximum of 5 skaters. Skaters must be 6 years of age or younger. Program duration: 1 minute.

Peppermint Twists: A team with a minimum of 5 skaters. Skaters must be 10 years of age or younger. Program duration: 1-1/2 minutes.

Teen Introductory: A team of 8 to 16 skaters The majority of the team must be 18 years of age or younger on thepreceding July 1. Program duration: 2-1/2 to 3-1/2 minutes.

Youth Introductory: A team of 8 to 16 skaters The majority of the team must be 11 years of age or younger on the preceding July 1. Program to include only one forward intersection. Program duration: 2 to 3-1/2 minutes.

Adult Introductory: A team of 8 to 16 skaters The majority of the team must be 19 years of age or older on the preceding July 1. Program duration: 2-1/2 to 3-1/2 minutes.

Collegiate Introductory: A team of 8 to 16 skaters. Skaters must be enrolled in a college or university degree program as a full or part-time student. Program duration: 2-1/2 minutes

SYNCHRONIZED FOURS: (Four Skaters Per Group)
Synchronized Fours gives skaters the opportunity to practice and compete basic skating skills that will improve their mastery of Synchronized skating. Basic synchronized safety rules should be followed at all times. Skaters may choose the level at which they compete. Coaches may choreograph one program for many teams of the same level. No music is allowed.

Preliminary (Preliminary Moves): (Emphasis: Acceleration. Forward and backward crossovers; one change from forward to backward while gaining speed; and two different handholds. Include one spiral. Additional maneuvers may be added to fit the time). Program duration: 1 minute.

Juvenile (Juvenile Moves): (Emphasis: Improved speed and extension over the Preliminary level. Forward and backward cross strokes; crossovers combined with two changes in direction; and two different handholds. Include a forward and backward intersection). Program duration: 1-1/2 minutes.

Intermediate (Intermediate Moves): (Emphasis: Improved edge quality and power over Juvenile skaters. Acceleration from one maneuver to the next should be effortless. Forward double three turns on the left foot; one group of brackets; forward and backward crossovers; forward and backward intersections. Skaters may add difficulty to these maneuvers with elements like lunges, spirals, etc.). Program duration: 2 minutes.


ASSUMPTION OF RISK AND WAIVER OF LIABILITY:
All competitors 18 years of age and older MUST SIGN the Assumption of Risk and all competitors under 18 years of age must have a parent or legal guardian sign the Assumption of Risk Form.


AWARDS:
All members (Including Alternates) of teams placing 1st - 4th will receive medals. Medals will be presented to the Team Captains off ice.


COMPETITION BULLETIN BOARD:
All Official Communications will be posted, at the Redwood Empire Ice Arena, in Snoopy's Warm Puppy Coffee Shop area, Saturday, January 15, 2026 by 2:00 P.M. All Official Communications signed by the Chief Referee WILL SUPERCEDE all other schedules.

GENERAL ADMISSION:
FREE ADMISSION to all spectators. All are welcome to the capacity of The Redwood Empire Ice Arena on a first-come basis.


JUDGING:
Judging will be according to the rules of the 2000 USFSA Rulebook. Closed system of judging will be used.


MAP:
A map of some of the local hotels and motels is included for your convenience.

MUSIC:
Only cassette tapes marked with team's name and event will be accepted. Tapes must be turned in upon registration by the Team Coordinator or Coach. TAPES MUST BE CUED AND READY to play. Back-up cassettes are advised. It is the responsibility of the Team Coordinator or Coach to pick up their music immediately after the team's event. The Santa Rosa FSC bears NO responsibility for damage or loss of cassettes.


PRACTICE ICE:
Practice ice may be available depending upon the number of teams entering.Practice ice (if scheduled) will be $45.00 for each ten minute session .


REGISTRATION:
All Synchronized teams MUST BE at the Redwood Empire Ice Arena ONE HOUR before their scheduled event(s).

RV PARKING:
RV Parking is available at The Redwood Empire Ice Arena's secondary Parking Lot located on Hardies Lane.

Santa Rosa, California located in the heart of the Sonoma Wine Country, is one hour and 20 minutes north of the San Francisco International Airport, and about 50 miles north of the city of San Francisco, on U.S. Highway 101. Pamper yourself to a Calistoga Mud Bath, Whale Watch at Bodega Bay or Cruise within yards of Alcatraz Island.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS AND DRAW:
The Tentative Dressing Room Schedule, The Tentative Schedule Of Events, The Skating Order, and The Tentative Rink Outline and Procedure Map will be mailed to each team's Contact Person after January 3, 2000.


SNOOPY'S COFFEE SHOP (The Warm Puppy):
"Snoopy's Coffee Shop" (The Warm Puppy) serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Snoopy's Ice Cream Parlor is also available at the ice arena. Avid fans of SNOOPY can visit Snoopy's Giftshop and Gallery located on the spacious grounds of The Redwood Empire Ice Arena, owned by Charles Schulz.


TENTATIVE TIMES: (SATURDAY, JANUARY 15, 2026) 3:00 P.M. - 7:30 P.M.


TIME RESTRAINTS:
Due to time restraints there will be no official photography of the teams and no opening ceremonies.


THE REDWOOD EMPIRE ICE ARENA:
The Redwood Empire Ice Arena (Snoopy's Home Ice) is located at 1667 West Steele Lane, Santa Rosa, California, 95403, (707) 546-7147. The ice surface is 85 feet x 185 feet with slightly rounded corners. The General Manager is Craig B. Gates.


WARM-UP:
Each team will be allowed a maximum of a one minute warm-up (Without Music) on the competition ice surface immediately prior to their performance. Warm-Up Time commences with the moment the first skaters enters the ice surface.
