REDWOOD CLASSIC COMPETITION
AUGUST 4 - 6, 2000

GENERAL RULES

1. The Redwood Classic will be held at the Redwood Empire Ice Arena, 1667 West Steele Lane, Santa Rosa, CA on August 4, 5 and 6, 2000. Hosted by the Santa Rosa Figure Skating Club, and sanctioned by the USFSA.

2. This competition will be conducted in accordance with the current USFSA Rulebook, except as herein specified.

3. A skater's eligibility to enter the competition is governed by the USFSA test structure, and CR 32.00. Tests passed as of the closing date of entries shall govern. Age as of the closing date of entries shall govern.

4. All skaters must be an eligible member in good standing of the USFSA.

5. All skaters will be judged and marked for all portions of all events.

6. Free Skating events will be divided by gender. Siblings will be separated whenever possible. Artistic events will be mixed gender.

7. Skating order will be determined by random draw. Events may be divided or combined by the Competition Committee and/or the Chief Referee.

8. Skaters may enter an event at only one level.

9. The minimum number of entries to hold an event is two. Single entries may be cancelled and entry fees returned. Single exhibitions may be allowed at the discretion of the committee, in which case entry fees will not be returned. Events may be combined based on the number of entrants.

10. Awards will be given to 1-4th place in each event.

11. There will be on ice warm up per the current USFSA rulebook.

12. Schedules: Please enclose a self addressed stamped envelope for a copy of the competition time schedule. Schedules will be sent to each participating club.

13. Refund of Entry Fees: CR 33.05. Entry fees are refundable only if a skater withdraws prior to the closing date of June 30, 2000. Otherwise, refunds will be made only if the failure to participate is due to a death in the immediate family.

14. The Chief Referee's interpretation of the rules and decisions on all questions not covered by these rules shall be final.

15. All skaters 18 years of age and older must sign the Assumption of Risk Form. All skaters under 18 years of age must have a parent or legal guardian sign the Assumption of Risk Form.

Entry Forms
Entry forms are attached, and must be legibly filled out. Entry forms must be mailed with the Entry Fees to the Registrar. It you have any questions, please contact us. All entries must be postmarked no later than June 30, 2000. Late entries may only be accepted at the discretion of the competition committee. No entries will be accepted within 48 hours of the competition. No telephone entries will be accepted. Send all entries to:

ARENA AND ICE SURFACE
The Redwood Empire Ice Arena is 185 x 85 feet, with slightly rounded corners.

REGISTRATION
A registration desk will be located in the lobby of the ice arena. All competitors are required to register, turn in their music, and be ready to skate one hour before scheduled time of their event.

BULLETIN BOARD & NOTICES
An official bulletin board will be maintained. The most current tentative schedule and skating order will be posted. This schedule will supersede all other schedules. Notices on this board are to be considered sufficient notice to all persons. A tentative schedule with entries by event and group will be sent to all clubs.

MUSIC
All music must be a cassette tape. Tapes must be clearly marked with competitor's name and event. Tapes must be cued and ready to play when turned in. It is a good idea to have a backup tape in your possession. Tapes must be picked up at the registration desk after the completion of each event.

AWARDS
Medals will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place. Awards will be presented at the photographer's stand as soon as possible following the posting of results.

VIDEO TAPING
Professional video taping will be provided by R & J Video.

PHOTOGRAPHER
Professional photographs wil be available from Robert Koch Studios

CONCESSIONS:
Food, snacks and beverages are available at the Warm Puppy Coffee Shop located at the Redwood Empire Ice Arena.

PRACTICE ICE
There will be practice ice; you may contact Joanne at the Redwood Empire Ice Arena (707) 546-7147 beginning July 25, 2026 for information.

JUMPS ONLY EVENT: Entrants will qualify according to their freestyle level. Pre-Preliminary through Pre-Juvenile will be skated on 1/2 ice. All other levels will skate on full ice. Jumps should be performed exactly as stated. Each element will be skated separately. Skaters in each group will perform each element in a rotating order. Skaters will be given two opportunities to perform each jump, and will be judged on the best one. An axel will be considered a single jump. In situations where the skater is given the choice of the jumps to be performed, the first attempt will determine the jumps to be judged, and the skater will not be allowed to change jumps on the second attempt.
Maximum time limit is 1 minute.

Novice Double loop; double flip; combination of any two double jumps.
Junior Double Axel; double flip; combination of any two double jumps, or triple/double
Senior Double flip; double axel; combination of any two double jumps or a triple jump with a double jump


SPINS ONLY EVENT: Entrants will qualify according to their freestyle level. Spins may be joined with appropriate connecting moves and will be skated on 1/2 ice. Each element will be skated separately. Skaters in each group will perform each element in a rotating order. Skaters will be given two opportunities to perform each spin, and be judged on the best one.There will be a 1 minute time limit, and no music. Spins must be skated exactly as stated, but may be performed in any order.

Novice Camel to back camel ( 4 revs each foot) spin combination with 2 chgs of position, 1 change of foot ( 5 revs each); layback spin (ladies 6 revs); or cross foot spin (men-6 revs)
Junior Flying camel ( 8 revs); spin combination with 3 chgs of position and 1 change of foot (6 revs each foot); layback spin (ladies - 8 revs) or cross-foot spin (men-8 revs)
Senior Flying spin of choice (8 revs); spin combination with a least 2 changes of position and 2 changes of foot (12 revs total); solo spin of skater's choice (8 revs)
